Dogs have been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started training in 1968 with my Boxer, acheiving a
CD in Obedience. About 1970, I became involved with German Shepard Dogs of the Hanarob, Dipadon, Stall Farm and German
lines, showing in Obedience and Conformation. These were high scoring Obedience dogs, and I earned the Dog Worlds Capt.
Will Judy award. This also launched my desire to excel in Conformation. I taught Obedience for many years, in between owning
my own businesses, and raising my three children. I have owned trained, shown, and groomed all my own dogs. My Poodles
were all groomed by me - I am an expert on coat, growing hair, and conditioning.
Lately, I have been fortunate to own outstanding Standard Wire-Haired Dachshunds. Our first finished his Championship
@ 14 months, ranked in the top 25 showing minimally as a Special. He went BISS all varieties, and retired the Dachshund Club
of St. Louis Challenge Trophy (which had not been won in 26 years) by going BOV at three different Specialty shows.
He also won the Stone City Kennel Club Challenge Trophy in 2002.
I have mentored under several well respected professional handlers. Occasionally I will handle select client dogs, including
Tibetan Terriers, Dachshunds, Poodles, Pugs, Irish Wolfhounds, Irish Setters, Papillons, and Boxers, and even an Afghan!
I believe in quality, and not just numbers. My training philosophy is simple: teach proper handling techniques from the
beginning, maintain consistency, and have fun! Our brag board is evidence that these techniques work - whether beginner or
experienced, my students can handle themselves and their dogs when in the ring with the pros!
I support the sport of dogs and the breeds I have loved. I am a member of Dachshund Club of America, Irish Setter Club of
America, Stone City Kennel Club, Great Lakes Poodle Club, and the Western Irish Setter Club. I have also
chaired many shows, both specialty and all breed. I have been honored to judge sweepstakes for several breeds, and also for
many breeds, and many breed and all breed matches.
